Profile for Vasily Tryndyk

The Tryndyk family has its roots in the Ukraine and Caucasus. Vasili Tryndyk was born in the republic of Kabardino-Balkariya in 1954. His father Nicolai Tryndyk was a well-known artist in that part of the Soviet Union and supported him to become an artist. His father even was his first teacher. Subsequently Vasili went on to study at the art academy in Leningrad, where he graduated in 1972. Ten years later, in 1982, he became a member of the Union of Artists. Within a few years’ time he established himself as a renowned artist, participating in the large exhibitions around the country, amongst others at the regular Manege exhibitions in Moscow. There, in 1989, he reached a first peak when he was awarded a medal by the union for his great achievements in art.
In April 1991 Vasili Tryndyk arrived with his family in Nijmegen. He left the Soviet Union as an established artist to start again as an unknown artist in new surroundings. Even though he was unknown in this part of the world he soon found an audience for his paintings.
The peace Tryndyk has found in Holland has changed his art. He now more seeks the human scale. He does not seek big themes, but focuses on human beauty, kindness, and harmony. Themes that show us the heart and mind of the artist. Someone who is seeking love, hope and understanding in small things.
