Many players are very good at playing just one or two distances. My recommendation is that you should consciously practice in the three distances, following the indications given below:

Distance 1 - the ball starts its way: You must hit the ball before it reaches its highest point. You must learn to use a short, fast movement with little backswing.
Distance 2 - the ball at its highest point: You must learn to use a relaxed technique when hitting the ball at its highest point. A wide variety of blows can be successfully delivered at this distance.
Distance 3 - the ball on its way down: You hit the ball after it has reached its highest point and is on its way down. This distance requires a technique that uses a great forearm movement before hitting the ball
