Regarding my paintings, a person once told me that she liked my "whimsical angst." I like that description and am happy to classify my painting style as such. I also like to describe my style as "representational abstract," where I celebrate the essence and not just the likeness of my subjects from both my real life and imagined life.
Pre-COVID, I have enjoyed teaching painting workshops in cities including Portland, Seattle, Austin, Los Angeles, and Santa Ana. I hope to eventually teach groups in the future once a vaccine is successfully administered. In the time of Covid, I teach socially distanced and masked private lessons for learners who live in Orange County, CA..
I also teach a course titled Art & Activism to undergraduates as a lecturing faculty member at the University of California, Irvine.
I was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to the United States in 1974. I grew up in Bakersfield, California and currently live in Santa Ana, California. I am an alumna of UC Irvine and UCLA.
