Profile for Annie Cron

Hi there, so glad you’re here! Here’s a bit about me; I’m a freelance illustrator working and living in Queens, NY with my thoughtful husband, two whip-smart, funny daughters, and one wily cat.

I cut my teeth in the art world ten years ago working for the legendary producers of schlock horror, Troma Entertainment, Inc. famous for the Toxic Avenger and The Class of Nuke ‘Em High. I was basically a one woman art department doing everything from DVD covers, to web design, to animated DVD menus and beyond. I learned so much, not the least of which was: you can figure anything out with the help of the Googles!

After three years with Troma I moved on to Troma’s polar opposite - work in home décor. I was assistant art director at Enchanté Accessories, Inc. developing products, creating original art as well as working with licensed art for clients such as: TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Michael’s, Burlington, Joann Fabric & Craft, and more. I gained an indepth knowledge of commercial art and product development (paper storage boxes, boxed greeting cards, journals, gift bags, etc.). I worked on projects all the way from art creation, to laying out production templates, to sending technical production specs to the factory, to finalizing mass production samples. Seeing my work come to life in the stores and knowing they would find their way into people’s wonderful homes was always a thrill!

After five years I took the leap to freelance and haven’t looked back! I love the variety of projects freelance affords and, of course, working in close proximity to my fridge (I’m looking at you delicious snacks ;)!

I also created a line of children’s toys and clothes, annieanddaisy.com. To grow my brand I took a crash course in business, devouring all the articles and blogs I could get my hands on and used what I learned to build up a 11K strong social media presence on Instagram. I love the personal connection with customers as well as developing the story behind the business; a mama creating modern toys and clothes for my daughters that I am excited to share with the world.

A few other perhaps illuminating but otherwise totally useless tidbits:

I have a tattoo that says “It’s always impossible until it’s done.”
I often listen to Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” on repeat while I’m working (I may or may not sing along a little too loud - good thing I work from home and it’s only the wily cat that can hear ;)
I prefer cheese to chocolate any day of the week. Brb, going to get some cheese!
