Originally created for the 2017 show entitled "Her Own Wings" at Land Gallery in Portland, OR. The show featured female-identifying artists reimagining the Portlandia statue in a way they found powerful to them.
The concept for the show came from show-organizers Andy McMillan’s passion for local history, and his research into the Portland Building and the statue of Portlandia.
“I have been frustrated for some time about the fact that the City tried and ultimately failed to brand Portland with a strong female figure in the early 1980s. So I’m bringing together some of my favorite local artists to try again.”
Hello and welcome! I'm a Colorado raised Illustrator who's been working at my professional practice in Portland, OR for nearly a decade.
I'm inspired by medieval monsters and illuminated manuscripts and their intersection with popular media. I like exploring the idea between the unknown, the fantastical and our modern daily experiences with every piece of art that I make.
