I've been thinking about whether or not its possible to divorce an artist from the material they produce for quite a while now. Everytime I think about this, I'm reminded of the Bill cosby show, the daddy of America. If someone were to watch the Bill Cosby show not knowing about Bill's transgressions , would they have the same reaction as someone who did know? I don't think they would have the same reaction. With the knowledge of Bill's transgressions, the show is grim, almost creepy. I think it's impossible to divorce an artist from the material they produce simply because the character of that artist will impact the perception of thier material.
