The Carrier Anpiels are the newest result of the Vilhon Reclamation League’s experiments. They are built to serve as a reliable means of transportation for both people and goods, gifted with four sets of tautly muscled arms and a pair of leathery wings. They subsist on the salt of small creatures and insects which they metabolize to power the large lantern organ they carry at all times. They are generally sensitive, considerate creatures, but salt starvation can sometimes drive them to acts of violent desperation. Like many pack animals, their life spans are naturally long, but can be cut short by heavy labor.
