The Tryndyk family has its roots in the Ukraine and Caucasus. Vasili Tryndyk was born in the republic of Kabardino-Balkariya in 1954. His father Nicolai Tryndyk was a well-known artist in that part of the Soviet Union and supported him to become an artist. His father even was his first teacher. Subsequently Vasili went on to study at the art academy in Leningrad, where he graduated in 1972. Ten years later, in 1982, he became a member of the Union of Artists.
