Roza Shanina was a Russian sniper during World War II. I became inspired to do this piece after researching famous people who carried the Mosin–Nagant sniper rifle as I have a 1932 version that was a gift from my father.
Roza had 59 confirmed Nazi kills in the two years that she served. She died after shielding another soldier from heavy artillery fire.
I work in both digital and traditional mediums using photographic collage, as well as hand drawn images relying heavily on my strong foundation in Drawing and composition to make cohesive illustrations. I love telling stories with my artwork, especially strange and scary ones!
