After finishing the day’s work in the fields, an old farmer sat down next to me. The thick
veins on his hands resembled the cracks on the parched ground. The monsoon had been
fleeting. He gestured to the ground and reminisced about a past when water was plentiful.
But it was his work-worn, earth-encrusted hands that spoke to me about the things he didn’t.
