It has been a while since I've made something that was both a fun and rewarding process. Lately, I have been in a slump. I would create something and it just wasn't....anything at all. It was fun, but then it was food for the garbage can.
I decide to try something new, and I pick up an old debit card to paint with and suddenly I'm in the zone and three crows perch themselves in a wetland forest. This scene is very familiar to me. I go on many walks for my (other) job and also for self care, and being near the everglades, I'm always hearing the crows and blackbirds talking loudly to one another in the marshy fields. I don't know all the separate calls of each species, but I do know the call of the red winged black bird and it's one of my favorites because it is so distinguishable.
I believe using a new tool allowed me to loosen up and lose control, using the card to move the paint around, allowed me to make marks and NOT overthink! I hope you enjoy this little scene as much as I do!
I create • I'm addicted to sunshine • the beach is my happy place • I'm an artist-at-work and artist-at-play.
