I'm interested in capturing movement and have experimented heavily with different materials in my quest to render frenetic images. By layering two images of the same face on top of each other I created a 'blurred vision' type effect which I think is deliciously dark and unsettling. It made me think of the Red Shift phenomenon, in the way that the universe is expanding and appears to be moving away from us at high speeds creating a blurred red colour due to the stretching of the wavelengths (i think).
Painter/Illustrator from Sheffield. Primarily use acrylic ink but also graphite occasionally. I like to use Science/Science fiction as a basis for conceptualising imagery. The wonder and awe I feel when I think about the vastness of space is the same feeling I try and create with my work. Like the universe, I want my work to be beautiful but also dark, with an under-lying sense of dread and nothingness.
