The “Catrina” skull (a.k.a. “Dapper Skeleton” or “Elegant Skull”) it’s a popular culture icon born in Mexico, in the zinc etching by the famous artist José Guadalupe Posada. Given it ties to the past heritage of the Aztecs and the mexican “Holy Death” deity, the Catrina has become the icon of Death in Mexico (specially in the All Saints’ Day) and now is also popular in other countries (like Spain or USA, where is a halloween icon).
