This image is a self-portrait inspired by years of fighting against burnout and anxiety. More specifically, the revelation that I had gotten stuck in an echo chamber, repeating negative thoughts to myself over and over. I painted this as a reminder of the power I felt when I realized we don't have to listen to the voices that put us down, even when they sound like our own. © 2022 Cynthia Sheppard
