I wanted to paint something with very October feels. It started with a simple still life of some marigolds from the yard and evolved into this...more complicated painting. The thought was all about memories of pets we have lost, and what a witches familiars might mean to her still, even after they have passed away. People so often misconstrue things, taking them in at first glance and not considering the deeper meaning...they might look at this and think and evil witch sacrificing an animal...but This art is about honoring the spirits of beloved kitties who have gone over that rainbow bridge in a natural way, and the fire of their memories living on in those of us still around.
mediums used: watercolor, gouche, fine liner pens, and a gold prismacolor pencil (the gold shows up better in person then in this scan)
