The soul is described as something all encompassing: the divine, the good, the bad and the ugly. Metaphorically speaking: the essence of someone depicted in all its colors.
And in btvs aura reading exists (Tara mentions it in one episode). When doing my research I found out that the initial color scheme I chose was already representing both Spike and Buffy. Both together complement each others auras or even intersect. They shape almost all colors known. I enhanced those strongest for them or fitting in their current states in season 7.
White represents purity and wisdom and being spiritually connected. I used white for the soul to enhance Spike's "transcendence" and for how souls are explained in the series in general. I also used white tones around Buffy as for her state of being the chosen one, the Slayer.
Dark-red represents a leader, a warrior spirit who has to be realistic and sharp witted.
Orange for them needing to belong, shaped by whom they surround themselves with. But also desire they have for each other.
Different yellow tones ranging to an awakening, a realization and the fear of loss of someone.
Purple stands for both of them being able to look through someone, that empathetic intuition. The darker purple stands for the inner struggles they both have to overcome, i.e. Buffy feeling suppressed or Spike feeling inferior. And the enlightenment that comes with it with her desire to find answers for her questions, like Buffy's love for him. And the very dark purples around Spike's soul standing for self sacrifice.
The green that goes from Spike to Buffy meaning to seek for harmony and peace with her.
The soft pinks for them being loving and loyal.
The bright blues around the soul for a new openness and new spiritual connection. But also Spike being always direct with his words.
The little darker blues for hurt trust.
I could list and explain more, but I think an excerpt is enough hihi
