Celebrating Las Vegas as I knew it growing up in the 90’s-00’s - those were my teen years.
A lot of the places do not or just barely exist anymore. But some are still kicking! This is not comprehensive, certainly I left out a lot. I spent months waiting for all these things to come back to me and every time I thought I was finished, something else came back and I tried to squeeze it in. One of the last things I added was Del Taco. I dunno, it felt important. I know that a lot of people, like myself, have very strong connections to weird little places and water parks where we spent our summers. Every hometown is like this, ours just happens to be Las Vegas.
So perhaps there will be a Las Vegas World Pt. II: More Recovered Memories. This piece was made with love and nostalgia during the Covid-19 pandemic while I have not been able to return home to Las Vegas in a year and a half.
Hello I'm Rhonda! I come from Las Vegas, Nevada and I live in Ferrara, Italy.
I have a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
My favorite thing is: my daughter.
My least favorite thing is: all of my dental problems.
Somewhere in the middle are: drawing, cake, thrifting, when my husband says "yum" about the food I cook, when my hair curls just right (rarely), getting tipsy on rum drinks and laughing with my buddies.
Thank you for looking at my artwork!
