The inspiration for this image came while I was considering the human soul, and more specifically, the weight of it. People talk about the soul as a moral burden, a “heaviness” on oneself. But there are those who consider the actual physical weight of it, if there is such a thing. How much does a soul weigh?
My thought is, if there is a soul, no matter how heavy it may feel in life, after we die it becomes light as a feather; a wisp of smoke and cloud that leaves our corporal form behind. Transforming into the essence from which we all spring. This image is a celebration of that transformation. A return to the collective, and a realization of our full potential.
Greetings! My name is Rachel Donné, and I'm a digital artist and illustrator based out of the San Francisco bay area.
