IR / Icons Re-imagined
This is the second artwork in my IR series where I put a watercolour-spin on some iconic Hero Shot backgrounds from my favourite shows. This one is inspired by Sailor Jupiter.
The transformation sequences from the original 90s "Sailor Moon" are so iconic today that many could easily recognize the show by a single screenshot.
If you're a fan of the show - like me - you'd have no problem recognizing characters based on the poses they strike at the end of the transformation, or even by the backgrounds that appear behind them.
My approach to this series was to create art that could be based on the show but wouldn't appear too obvious. Not like there's anything wrong with that, but maybe - for some - a loose inspiration taken from your favourite franchise could work better as pillows than something more literal. Maybe it would be nice for a change to hear your Mother go "Oh, I love those pillows! Finally you're growing out of those Japanese cartoons!"...
...She will never know :3
Be sure to check out all the art from the IR series. There's definitely more to come in the future :)
