A scene from "Helstrand," a movie never made, never written, and never performed by me and an imaginary cast.
On a lonely stretch of coastline in Norway, there stands a house. Faded walls, peeling paint, a crooked chimney caked in a layer of soot thick as the blood of the covenant. There, a series of tragedies, covered up and forgotten, changes an ordinary family into a cadre of monsters. A fisherman reaps what he sowed. A tired mother protects her children in the worst way she knows how. A wounded girl cares too much for a long-gone man whose secrets would have destroyed her. A lost boy falls between the cracks. Blinded by rage, grief, and gaslight, he makes a choice that was never his to make. On a lonely stretch of coastline in Norway, there falls a house.
