The Queen Bee is the heart and soul of the honey bee colony. She is the reason for nearly everything the rest of the colony does. The colony cannot survive without her.
This encaustic painting ”The Queen of the Hive” symbolizes the complexity of the community of bees and how they thrive when they literally do a dance to inform their fellow colony mates, where to find food sources.
The “Halo Hive” is a metaphor for the Circle of Light; how we as humans or bees could not survive without this source.
The Queen represents the personal power each of us carry within ourselves and embody wherever we travel. It asks us to fertilize our dreams and aspirations and to cooperate and communicate with each other so as to thrive as part of a whole.
I am an Encaustic painter… I paint with fire.
I come from a fashion design background and vocation, so I bring elements of mixed media into most of my art.
I write a blog for each painting prior to putting a paintbrush to my board.
I am inspired by the natural world, travel, life lessons, animals, and their symbolism, and mysticism.
My website is pennypollockart.com.
