I chose to create this Painted Bunting, because it relates to my recovery from breast cancer.
In October 2000, I found a lump, was diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive, and began a year of treatment that was rather rigorous. When I was recovering after my mastectomy, and still didn't know what lay ahead, a painted bunting lit on the tree by my window. I had never seen one before, and it felt like a good sign. About the time I completed chemo and other surgeries and therapies, the bunting appeared again. What a blessing to still be a survivor!
I've been a working artist for almost 40 years. Have done commercial art, technical illustration, website design and maintenance, and until a couple of years ago, wrote content for About.com's breast cancer site. 16 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and took a rugged course of treatments. I'm still here. Have been married to the same guy for 39 years, no kids, just pets. I was my father's 24/7 dementia caregiver. Currently taking every art class I can get into. ** Make art every day!**
