Inspired by Bhittai's rendition of Sassui. Sassui Punhoon is a story of struggle, sacrifice, valor and determination. Sassui traversed where no man would dare. Neither extreme hunger, nor thirst, there was nothing that could stand in the way of her desire for Punhoon. Through Sassui Bhittai speaks to rugged hills and deadly deserts. Sassui is a true seeker who annihilates all that's left of herself until she becomes Punhoon herself.
My art is my conversation with my ancestors, a tool for me to dig deeper into my roots, a cave for my unaccepted darkness and a path to my undiscovered light.
A central theme of my art is the relationship between humanity and nature, oftentimes the underlying thread that ties together my work and establishes my individual artistic voice.
