This is the colored version of a space-themed postcard illustration. The original black-and-white illustration was drawn commemorating the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight by Yuri Gagarin. The drawing was an entry to a space-themed postcard competition, where it was selected as one of three winners.
I wanted the drawing to remind of the feeling of being small under the vast universe, and also respect the history of space exploration. The blue and gold of this colored version is inspired by classical illustrations and paintings of the star sky.
The original drawing is 15 x 21 cm and drawn with Micron fineliners and a ruling pen. The colouring is made with alcohol-based markers to a copy of the original.
