"Wing and Fire" is from my personal short "Return of the Dragon Queen", a story about the metamorphosis of dragons through their interaction with humans. I used a mixture of photographic elements and brush work to create this Styleframe. A Styleframe is like a Bierstadt or Constable painting. It captures a moment. They are production art pieces
visualizing the essence of a shot or an entire sequence. It's primary purpose is visual communication between artists and clients/supervisors or the different areas of production.
Although Styleframes have to be of a photo-real Matte Painting quality, they often go beyond the purpose of a Matte Painting and include a still of a moving element such as a character, or in this case: A ship
