Tagalog Moon Goddess of Revolution and Combat
In the Tagalog Creation Story, when her father Bathala went into a deep slumber, she proposed to her brother Apolaki to rule the land equally. He rejected her proposal which caused a war between them. During battle, Apolaki took out one of her eyes. And in remorse he relented and gave her equal rule over the land. He rules the morning. She rules the night.
Mayari stands for revolution on a personal level. To demand change in ourselves and among others so that our circumstances improve. She demands we thrive and not stagnate in old beliefs that keep us thinking we will never be equal to others.
