Based on a man-made landscape photography project, The New Land questions what we think
of as "reality": What is real? Can we see reality in a photograph? In my opinion, the reality is a
process that our visual perceptions match with our personal experiences. To paraphrase the
philosopher Immanuel Kant, our understanding of the world is limited with our own experience.
The model in the photograph is made from tinfoil, cotton, small branches and fluorescent
pigments. However, because of my setting, the visual information of the model is transformed.
In The New Land real objects that exist our daily lives are transformed through photography to
make them look like a real landscape. This is the new land I have discovered.
