The red spider-lily or the bianhua is a flower of transition. Some legends in China and Japan tell of stories of spirits who, in life, were ill-fated in matters of the heart. If the wandering spectre stumbles upon the lily, its beauty is so distracting it frees them from their regret allowing them to move on and reincarnate.
Hello! I'm an illustrator who specialises in publishing design and sequential narratives. My work can be dreamy and surreal; however, the themes at the heart of each story usually centre around empathy and understanding between people across cultures, classes and lived experiences. I believe my work would suit a middle grade or young adult audience. My work has been enriched by an eclectic mix and includes folklore, film and print media, politics, philosophy and the people I’ve met all over the world.
