One of the best things about winter birding in California is cedar waxwings. Loud flocks of beautiful birds absolutely smother toyon trees for their bright red berries. Watching them toss a berry in the air before swallowing it with gusto is such a joy.
I look at the birds, I take the photos. I do bird photography in and around Los Angeles. One of my favourite haunts is the Los Angeles River, and I love getting to share the beauty of the wildlife you can find down in the river, right alongside the freeway traffic.
