This endangered hummingbird is found in a pocket of habitat in southwestern Ecuador. It was identified in 2017, and due to its limited range is already believed to be an endangered species. The Andean Condor she perches atop is also near threatened, and their populations are in decline.
In Incan folklore, the Condor was believed to be wise and powerful, carrying the prayers and wishes of humans to the gods. Even though the Condor had flown many times to the realms of the gods, he had never looked upon them. One day, the Hummingbird stowed away among his feathers during the Condor's regular flight to the heavens. When they arrived, the hummingbird fluttered out and saw the gods' true form, and was allowed to take over the role of messenger and spiritual guide. The Condor remained as guardian and ruler of the skies.
I've been working as an artist for about 3 years now, and I finally took the jump to do it full-time. I'm trying to develop my career, learn new skills, and keep my bills paid! My big love is illustration, especially inspired by wildlife, fantasy, and nature. I also have a series of silly doodle comics about life, art, and being human!
