Il Bocolo di San Marco 🌹 Saint Mark's Rosebud
On Saint Mark's day in Venice you have to give a rosebud to the woman you love.
There's a legend behind this sweet tradition, and it's as tragic as it can get. Tancredi and Vulcana were in love, but her father would not approve. So he left to war, to gain his honor, and so he did, meeting his death on the battlefield: he fell, but before dying he took a single rosebud stained in blood and entrusted his companion to bring it back to his lover. Vulcana was found dead on Saint Mark's day with the flower on her heart 🥀

Lisa Vannini is an Italian freelance illustrator and concept artist with a degree in Japanese Studies who decided that she was probably better off as an artist after getting lost on a sacred mountain in Kyoto for 6 hours.
She specialises in everything that is magical, mysterious and out of the ordinary. In her spare time she enjoys watching Korean horror movies in her jungle-like house with her cat Moka and travelling to remote locations chasing after spooky folk-tales.
