The Bolex H16 Reflex is an incredibly solid and versatile 16mm movie camera, and has been used for decades in a wide variety of roles — from a low cost entry point to 16mm filming by film students and amateurs right through to a professional tool used in the production of animation, documentary and drama for commercial markets.
First released in 1956, the camera’s body is constructed from highly-polished duraluminium and genuine Morocco leather. A system of ten optical prisms was utilized in a new viewing system, allowing through-the-lens framing and focusing. The Bolex H-16 Reflex was also designed with a 20% more powerful motor than earlier models. On a full wind, it was possible to run the camera for 40 seconds at 16 frames per second.
