Known as the "clowns of the sea," when they're not searching for sea urchins for lunch, sea otters spend their spare time playing. Social animals, they often hold "hands" when they nap so they won't get seperated from each other. Baby otters nap on their mamas' tummies, safe, dry, and warm, until they're old enough to find their own food and take care of themselves.
I started drawing as soon as a toddler in the mid-1950s--and I never stopped. My first love as an artist is whimsy, usually in the form of animals both natural and mythical, and I'm inspired by fairy tales and fantasies of all kinds.
