Bows are often best to opt for when hunting in the quagmires. When the land shifts with the ice atop the water what you’re tracking could be yards away, only across an frigid chasm of seawater. It’s best to loose an arrow into it and wait for it to drift to you. This goes for all game; chamois, capercaillie, or crone.
He hunts the more magical of the three. He’s felled a few witches before, icy mire and the wooded isle amidst it are inhabited by more than a few of that ilk. The tracker totes trophies and trinkets from his previous conquests believing they give him boon and blessing.
Much of the gear he now dons has been shaped out of a saturnine cauldron collected from a witch’s glade. The witch had prepared potions and poisons alike in this vessel and the essences of said concoctions still linger upon the black metal. This metal was to be shaped into a helm, cuirass, caltrops, and battle axe. The armor to grant unnatural protection and the weapons to sear and rend.
