These people had to turn to the sea for survival and sustainability. The local sheep had evolved over the years to dive below the icy surface for seaweed and to ingest any that washes upon the black shores.
This here shepherd has to wade through the ice off shore to rustle up his flock, it’s not uncommon for icebergs to separate an ewe or two from its group. So this feller has to, from time to time, round up a stray sheep.
