Before the sea was drained and dried many ships would sail amongst its waters from harbor to harbor. Some ships would capsize due to collisions with rocks or run-ins with leviathan seabeasts, some would be tossed over and pummeled by immense waves, and other hulks would be sunk in vicious pirate attacks.
It goes without saying that most times when a ship got sunk it took most of it’s passengers down with it. While raiding a victim vessel this corsair was entangled in the ship’s tackle as it was rocked around in the attack, making it easy for a sword to be driven through his chest.
His comrades had looted the targeted ship and and set about sinking it, paying their dying crewmate little mind. As the ship was pulled below he was dragged down with it in the undertow spitting curses at his shipmates who damned him to die drowning sinking to the bottom of the sea. Stirred awake after the immense weight of the sea’s waters had been lifted from his bones, this marauder crawled to his feet to take his revenge upon those who let him meet such a ghastly fate.
