It was inspired by our holiday visit to Bruny Island in Tasmania, where we saw plenty of letterboxes of different designs adorning the roadsides. I wanted to capture the fleeting moment of surprise and joy when two people (who have mutual feelings for each other) have met unexpectedly.
Hi I am Kwee Eng, an illustrator and art educator based in Singapore.
Since young, I have been drawn towards creating illustrations that capture wonders and life snippets of children or/and animals that serve as my visual journal. Working mainly with ink, watercolour and gouache, I love imbuing a sense of playfulness with a hint of imagination into my work. Reading, working with young children, playing with cats, outdoor exercises and travel have always been my source of inspiration in coming up with stories through illustrating.
