This started out as one of my live digital paintings at an event in San Diego. I went into it with no concrete plan (just playing with photos I took on the SD coast). But I did have a vision: to do something that fit the strange aesthetics of my personal I.P, without any clues as to scale. I love things that make one wonder whether they are macroscopic OR microscopic, things that could be something from an electron microscope. (I realize that this is hard to get away with in concept art, but I treat this more like a fine art landscape.) I also really wanted to push the diffuse light so that this wouldn't feel like Earth. And using high key values with creepy shapes always works for me.
I am a freelance illustrator and concept artist, specializing in science fiction and surreal scenes/structures.
