I am so fortunate to live in the Kent countryside, this was instrumental in nurturing my passion for landscape photography combined with my love of nature inherited from my father. Oast Houses are a typical Kentish feature and I don’t have to travel very far to find one.
One day in February I was driving to the National Trust-owned village of Chiddingstone to take some photos. The plan was to photograph Chiddingstone Lake on the grounds of Chiddingstone Castle, a fortified stately home previously owned by the infamous Denys Bowers.
On route, I drive past a triangular junction with an Oast House situated in the middle of it. I have driven past this Oast many times and always wondered how to capture it without getting run over. Today it was sunny and I noticed in the pond across the other side of the road a stunning reflection of the house so pulled over to take several photos experimenting with different angles.
It wasn’t until I reviewed the image sometime later that I noticed all the telephone wires and decided perhaps now was the time to look at some Photoshop tutorials in removing them. I love new learning challenges. I am sure many people drive past this charming Oast however it is a home and a lovely one despite being located in the middle of a road with no privacy. As a Kentish landmark to the village, I love it and am so happy I've been able to capture it in all its glory…finally.

Two diplomas later I bought my Nikon DSLR camera and discovered a passion for capturing the countryside around me.
I believe living in the Kent countryside has been instrumental in developing this passion along with my inherited love of nature from my father
