Everyone has received or passed a love note. We used to write down some silly or romantic phrase, pass it to our crush, and hope they smile or blush and perhaps reciprocate the gesture. We might be the recipient of a little piece of paper from a mystery admirer. Technology has changed the way we share information, but some things are just too human to change. Attraction, love, lust, relationships... these all-too-human experiences are here to stay.
So who is this young lady conversing with? Is she receiving a new text from her partner/lover? Is she rereading a history of text messages between her and a loved one? Is she nostalgic over a love lost? These are the questions I hope viewers ask when they see this painting.
Artist and art educator. I like teaching people how to push colored dirt using a stick with hair glued on :)
