Under the canopy of mighty Hemlock trees in Oregon's central Cascades, the forest floor is full of wonders. Swaths of melting snow part to reveal a tapestry of needles and fallen branches, punctuated by the occasional early spring mushroom. Downed trees lay spread across the ground, returning nutrients to the soil that will allow new saplings to grow. The trunks of trees young and ancient are wrapped in layers of live wood, bark, and lichen, and patches of dappled light shine through the thick forest, illuminating it all.
Jordan Walker is a fine artist and illustrator currently living in western Oregon, and is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design.
He has spent his life roaming through deep woods and rugged coastlines exploring the wonders of the natural world. His life-long fascinations with natural history and ancient civilizations, as well as worlds of fantasy and science fiction have lead him to create work of his own that explores strange new worlds, as well as the one that we know.
