“Somewhere near the coast of Mid-Cretaceous South America, a strapping young carnotaurus bull fords a shallow creek on his way to this year’s mating grounds. During his journey to a vast brackish river delta, He will cross many muddy streams and salty estuaries. He is trailed by a group of Anhanguera, which fly in his wake to catch any fish he stirs up as he slogs through cloudy waters.
Groves of stunted monkey puzzle saplings indicate that his destination is near, and though his feet sometimes catch in thickets of magnolia, he soldiers on. The delta lies somewhere ahead, and the time has nearly come for him to dance.”
