I learned a lot from Ross’ videos and doing master studies of their artwork, I feel this is a good way to show my thanks to Ross~
My thoughts and tips:
This artwork felt nostalgic from the time I studied Rossdraws’ artwork. For in the start of this artwork I drew some glasses in the original artwork then felt like she looked like some kind of traveler. I decided to add that story telling element in my version of the piece. I started with monochrome to mind the values and I found that the problem to my lack of “deliberate shading” is learning the planes of the face. Overall this face can use more shadows so I’ll be drilling down some face planes in the next post!
The transition into monochrome to a colored piece also had its difficulty and I may test between starting with monochrome or with base colors to see which suites me better on the far future~
Well that’s all for today, catch you on the next one and have a great day!
