When I'm drawing or painting something -anything- I like to free associate around the subject at hand. At some point it just happens to clicks- with either a historical context, metaphor, or visual pun, that pulls it together and out of the basic and obvious. With this -the world's largest pumpkin- it was channeling some Wyeth. Both NC and Andrew Wyeth, I suppose. Andrew has that tension in his compositions that I wanted to capture. Alright... it's pretty self-indulgent and nerdy, but if anything, I hope the dwarfed wheel-barrow makes you smile.
Done for "Rare rekorder", published by Cappelen Damm.
My name is Jens, and I'm an illustrator living and working in Trondheim, Norway.
I'm a big fan of geeking out over visual communication, design, color, and everything else that goes into making an illustration.
I attended and graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, with a BFA in illustration.
