Margazhi month, little Krishna and the baby elephant.
“You see that, little one? My devotees have drawn such a beautiful kolam to welcome me. Lets go meet them.” - Krishna
Margazhi month is considered as divine month not only for humans and also devas (demigods). Margazhi month starts from mid-December to mid-January and is also called as dhanur month. Lord Krishna is also considered special for this month.
A traditional and auspicious art form of India, Kolam is drawn at home entrances to welcome divine forces home. Backed by the science of vibrational patterns, it is not just an art form, and has been a part of Indian culture for spiritual, aesthetic and scientific purposes.
During Margazhi, the auspicious month for Bhakti, drawing kolams at homes is yet another expression of love towards Lord Krishna and welcome Him home everyday.
In the Bhagavad Gita Chapter 10 verse 35, Krishna says:
bṛhat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ
gāyatrī chandasām aham
māsānāṁ mārga-śīrṣo ’ham
ṛtūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ
Of the hymns in the Sāma Veda I am the Bṛhat-sāma, and of poetry I am the Gāyatrī. Of months I am Mārgaśīrṣa [November-December], and of seasons I am flower-bearing spring.
