While Romeo and Juliet were fictional characters, Juliet’s balcony, and Juliet‘s house are real, though possibly through coincidence. Romeo and Juliet was set in Verona, where the Capello family (a real family) owned a house with a balcony facing a courtyard. As Capello sounds like Capulet, and the similarities of the house in Verona and setting in the play, their house have been dubbed Casa di Giulietta, or Juliet’s house.
