With this piece I wanted to pay tribute to the working class horse. This is Cash a beautiful western ranch horse who was lovingly described as gentle with an in-your-pocket type personality.
Harper Henry is a contemporary western artist creating vibrant, abstract-realistic paintings focused mainly on horses, Native Americans, and cowboys. Her work is a unique fusion of abstract and realism. Inspired by the great works of John Singer Sargent, Nicolai Fechin and Oleg Stavrowsky. With each new piece she tries to push artistic boundaries by finding new ways to look at classic subject matter and playing with styles that seemingly cause past and present to collide. She employs bold brushwork to evoke a sense of movement or reemergence.
Harper currently lives in Arizona and works out of her studio ...
