I think if Alice in Wonderland was in the desert then the Cheshire Cat would be the coyote howling at the moon and Mad Hatter drives an El Camino, and wears biker jewelry, and there would be random pie shops in the middle of nowhere. This piece was painted for my curiosity, for my rambling ways along highways watched over by cactus uncles and being drawn to mischief makers and story tellers. He began as a sketch of my mechanic uncle, crazy long mountain man hair and his epic grumpy owl facial expressions.and morphed to Shadowman, than Cactus Jack to finally Uncle Saguaro. Because somedays the weird needs a good story to go along with the “Did that really happen?” moments.
