Jane Spakowsky grew up immersed in the artistic culture of Vashon Island, WA. All her life she has been expressing herself through one form of creativity or another. Currently, she spends much of her time working on mixed media portraits layered with collage papers, inks, pastels, and paint. Jane also enjoys making distressed cloth and clay art dolls and salvaged saint assemblages with hand-sculpted faces and halos of rusty nails. Although often iconic and other-worldly, Jane’s art speaks of the human condition - particularly the plight of women.
