I started working on this piece in January after watching Midsommar. The 2019 movie produced by A24 and directed by Ari Aster. If you haven’t seen the film before there’s a part at the end where the main character is finally coming to a realization of her situation and you honestly can’t tell whether or not she’s happy or mortified. It’s left to the audience to interpret.
I was mostly looking at reference of flowers I had in my phone and online. I’ve been taking pictures of flowers for the past couple years and have them easy to access on my phone when I need them.
Initially it took me quite a while to figure out the colors. Color theory and work was something that I was still learning and I needed more time to be able to understand… so I took the time! I was able to get back to this piece and finish it in the week. I had made some readjustments to the original design to keep things balanced. I had made the realization that much like Midsommar I had made the realization that for the first time in a long time I was seeing color where my anxiety and depression where putting black and white glasses over me. With time and the proper health checkups and doctors I was able to get to a much better place. Before I was a depressed, suicidal, ridden with anxiety so bad it prevented me from doing anything. Slowly with medication I've been able to start functioning as a human being. I'm getting better and learning everyday and slowly touching the human side that was locked away for so long.
